Kathleen Sanchez strung this necklace with natural Sleeping Beauty turquoise beads alongside white clam shell heishi made by Marvin Lovato of Santo Domingo Pueblo. Sleeping Beauty’s pale, pure blue sits beautifully against the white heishi, a pairing that feels both traditional and completely current. Natural Sleeping Beauty has been harder to find since the mine closed in 2012, and the collaboration between two skilled Pueblo artists makes this piece something worth having.
